Doggy paddling no more!

**This post is dedicated to my Grandmother Frances, an amazing woman, who in her 90's still lives alone and takes senior aerobics classes. She told me she never learned how to swim and she regretted it. She then very forcefully told me that I needed to learn. Message received Grandma! **
I am taking swimming lessons! Paul is relieved that I come home happy and excited to go again. There are 5 adults in the class with varying degrees of swimming experience. I was pleased to know that I am not the most inexperienced swimmer in the class (that makes you feel a little better about being an adult in a beginner swim class). Now if I can just get my face in the water and not breathe at the same time, life would be really good.
In other news, I would say our soccer game on Saturday was a huge success. I mean success in that we didn't faint in the heat and neither one of us came home with any major injuries.
I would say it was less of a success in that there were only 4 girls so I had no subs, oh and we lost 7-0. We had a ton of guys so Paul had plenty of opportunities to sit in the shade and drink water. No, I'm not bitter, just burned... (not even that, we wore sunscreen).
The game really wore me out. After we got home and showered I was dead the rest of the day. We guzzled as much water as we could after the game, but not enough proving fast Sunday to be difficult.
Paul is amazing as always at soccer, he even scored a goal on Saturday, but the ref called him on something so we didn't get to keep the point. That would have been nice to have at least one point against this team. But we figure we can only go up right? I mean hopefully 7 is as bad as it gets. Fingers crossed.
There you have it!
What do I really want?

Yesterday was my Dad's birthday! Happy B-day Dado!
Wednesday is LBJ's birthday (which means I get to earn 8 holiday hours o be used any time in the next 12 months whoohoo!).
Next month is my b-day (I am not hinting for a b-day comment nor am I seeking attention). I am actually looking for help! I have been tasked with coming up with a list of things I want. This has always proven to be a difficult task. There are two times of the year that I hate; my birthday and Christmas only because I can never think of things I want. Hmm... So in an effort to enlarge my wish list which consists of two things, food storage (I know exciting) and a wii game, I need some suggestions. What do you have on your wish lists? Can I cheat off of you?
The only problem with this method...my main readership is family... i.e. the ones who want to know what I have on my list. Sigh.
She works hard for the money

**This post is dedicated to my exercise buddy Lori**
I would like to think I have gained a stronger lung capacity or possibly even stronger ankles from running. The only thing I am sure I have gained is $2.35!
Saturday morning after running/weight lifting, Paul and I left the work out room to the song "She works hard for the money". We laughed because up to that point I had found a whopping 35 cents while running. Not five seconds later I found two crumpled up dollar bills next to some bushes.
I would like to thank my friend Lori for this new source of income. She has eagle eyes when it comes to finding money while running, and I am always amazed that she can keep up a good pace, look for money, and have a dog tied to her while on her jaunts. She once asked me what I would do if I found $20 on the side of the road… 10 min later she found $20! I told her next time to ask me what I would do if I found $100 on the side of the road!
“She works hard for the money
so hard for it honey”
What's in a Decade?

Ten years ago I was a tour guide at the Colorado State Capital. I had just graduated from Conifer High school and I was slowly accepting the fact that I was going to the University of Wyoming and not Rick's College like I thought I really wanted.
I was filling my evenings with swing dancing and hanging out with new friends from Littleton. I had been to a few single's activities and was looking forward to more.
I was nervous of the upcoming changes in my life, but surprising even myself, I transitioned very well.

So to celebrate a great ten years, here are the top 10 happenings in my life since 1998.
#1. I graduated from college
#2. I worked at the Laramie Fire Dept for 6.5 years
#3. I have my own car (well Paul says its my car)
#4. I’ve been to Ireland!

#5. I found my love of disaster preparedness!
#6. I’ve taught myself how to crochet.
#7. I have collected over 300 pencils from around the world.
#8. I have 5 nieces and 4 nephews
#9. I have tackled things that scare me like water skiing, snow skiing, soccer, and running.
#10. I have known the awesome and amazing Dan Paul Denson for 10 years!!

Number 10 is by far the best!
Is this a good activity?

Last week we went to dinner with Uncle Bob and then went bowling. I have come to a conclusion. The price of bowling is directly proportional to the ratty-ness of the bowling shoes. This makes total sense when I think of bowling in Laramie. The shoes were lousy and the bowling was dirt cheap. We are not so lucky here.

If only bowling in real life was more like the Wii. No shoes needed, and I wouldn't have to worry about my thumb getting stuck in the hole. Plus my wii skills surpass Paul's wii skills which makes me happy! (Ok it is pretty pathetic that the only sport I can beat Paul at is an unrealistic video game... Or is it more pathetic since he has spent more time playing video games that he loses to me? hmmm) ![]()
Happy Friday everyone!
