    What do I really want?

    By Erin on August 25, 2008 | 5 feedbacks »

Yesterday was my Dad's birthday! Happy B-day Dado!

Wednesday is LBJ's birthday (which means I get to earn 8 holiday hours o be used any time in the next 12 months whoohoo!).

Next month is my b-day (I am not hinting for a b-day comment nor am I seeking attention). I am actually looking for help! I have been tasked with coming up with a list of things I want. This has always proven to be a difficult task. There are two times of the year that I hate; my birthday and Christmas only because I can never think of things I want. Hmm... So in an effort to enlarge my wish list which consists of two things, food storage (I know exciting) and a wii game, I need some suggestions. What do you have on your wish lists? Can I cheat off of you?

The only problem with this method...my main readership is family... i.e. the ones who want to know what I have on my list. Sigh.

    Holy Anniversary Batman!

    By Erin on August 10, 2008 | 3 feedbacks »

Sorry this post is a week late!

We did it! Six wonderful years!!
To celebrate our day of greatness we took work off on Friday and played all weekend long. And since we are still new to Austin, there are plenty of new things to see and do!

Paul made me breakfast Friday morning and then we headed to Barton Springs for a swim (and yes I did swim). When you walk out in the spring you are touching slimy rocks and cement. This was fun for us because we didn't want to get completely wet due to the cold water, but the slippery rocks were proving it difficult to stand on our own. I finally gave up and got wet first; it then took a while for me to coax Paul to get wet! Brrr! Paul treated me to a back flip from the diving board and and even rescued me from drowning a couple of times (not really drowning but my arms were getting tired). We lucked out that day because Friday was the only day of the year you could get in free! Whoohoo!

For lunch we headed to the Olive Garden. The only problem with the meal was we were completely stuffed so keeping our eyes open for a movie (well at least the previews) proved to be difficult.

Paul had been dying to see the newest Batman movie. I think it was the only movie he really wanted to see all year. We thought it would be cheaper to see a matinee but they only take $1 off the regular ticket price. Sheesh! We did have our pick of the seats though, so I guess that was good.

Later that night we decided to head downtown to see real bats. There is a bridge located off Congress with something like 1.5 million bats underneath. At sunset they all wake up and leave at the same time. We chose to look at them from above as opposed to looking up at them. We hung out on the bridge afterwards and took some pictures of the city all lit up.

To end the perfect Friday we treated ourselves to ice cream. Yum!

Saturday was just as eventful. We worked out and then attended a Bird-Day Party. Bob's parrot, Angel turned 10 years old this month, so Bob threw her a party. He had cookies and punch for people and Angel entertained us by avoiding us and signing a duet with Bob (well kinda a duet). I don't know how much fun Angel had, but it was still nice to get together and visit.

We ran some errands after that and then met up with some friends for dinner and a play. This was the same park we saw our Shakespeare play earlier in the summer, only this time it was Beauty and the Beast. While we were waiting for the play to start a HUGE tree branch fell and landed on someone. The ambulance and police had to show up and a ton of people went running to see what kind of carnage they could capture on their cell phones. Paul made jokes that the play could officially start because someone had already broken their leg.

Well that's about it. Sunday (our actual anniversary) we went to church and hung out around home. It's really hard to believe we have been married for 6 years. Here's to a BA-ZILLION more great years!
    I love you Paul!

She works hard for the money

**This post is dedicated to my exercise buddy Lori**

I would like to think I have gained a stronger lung capacity or possibly even stronger ankles from running. The only thing I am sure I have gained is $2.35!

Saturday morning after running/weight lifting, Paul and I left the work out room to the song "She works hard for the money". We laughed because up to that point I had found a whopping 35 cents while running. Not five seconds later I found two crumpled up dollar bills next to some bushes.

I would like to thank my friend Lori for this new source of income. She has eagle eyes when it comes to finding money while running, and I am always amazed that she can keep up a good pace, look for money, and have a dog tied to her while on her jaunts. She once asked me what I would do if I found $20 on the side of the road… 10 min later she found $20! I told her next time to ask me what I would do if I found $100 on the side of the road!

“She works hard for the money
    so hard for it honey”

    What's in a Decade?

Ten years ago I was a tour guide at the Colorado State Capital. I had just graduated from Conifer High school and I was slowly accepting the fact that I was going to the University of Wyoming and not Rick's College like I thought I really wanted.
I was filling my evenings with swing dancing and hanging out with new friends from Littleton. I had been to a few single's activities and was looking forward to more.
I was nervous of the upcoming changes in my life, but surprising even myself, I transitioned very well.

So to celebrate a great ten years, here are the top 10 happenings in my life since 1998.

    #1. I graduated from college
#2. I worked at the Laramie Fire Dept for 6.5 years

#3. I have my own car (well Paul says its my car)

    #4. I’ve been to Ireland!

#5. I found my love of disaster preparedness!

#6. I’ve taught myself how to crochet.

#7. I have collected over 300 pencils from around the world.
    #8. I have 5 nieces and 4 nephews
#9. I have tackled things that scare me like water skiing, snow skiing, soccer, and running.

#10. I have known the awesome and amazing Dan Paul Denson for 10 years!!

Number 10 is by far the best!

    Is this a good activity?

Last week we went to dinner with Uncle Bob and then went bowling. I have come to a conclusion. The price of bowling is directly proportional to the ratty-ness of the bowling shoes. This makes total sense when I think of bowling in Laramie. The shoes were lousy and the bowling was dirt cheap. We are not so lucky here.

If only bowling in real life was more like the Wii. No shoes needed, and I wouldn't have to worry about my thumb getting stuck in the hole. Plus my wii skills surpass Paul's wii skills which makes me happy! (Ok it is pretty pathetic that the only sport I can beat Paul at is an unrealistic video game... Or is it more pathetic since he has spent more time playing video games that he loses to me? hmmm) :D

    Happy Friday everyone!
